World Maker Faire, 2012
Digital Being: World Maker Faire documents an early stage in the observation of technological entities emerging from obsolete electronic systems.
The work presents Digital Beings formed from discarded technologies that have lost their original functions. Rather than restoring these devices, the system investigates how new behaviors and relationships can emerge when obsolete machines are reconfigured through computation and interaction.
Each entity operates through its own material conditions, embedded systems, and environmental responses. Movement, sound, and visual changes are not designed as fixed expressions, but emerge through interactions between hardware, code, and surrounding conditions.
Presented within the environment of World Maker Faire, the Digital Beings entered a public technological ecosystem where makers, machines, and human curiosity continuously interacted. The exhibition became a field of observation, revealing how forgotten technologies could shift from passive objects into responsive presences.
The work does not attempt to create artificial life. Instead, it examines the conditions through which life-like behavior appears when technological remnants, computational systems, and human perception become interconnected.
Digital Being: World Maker Faire observes the early emergence of digital entities—where obsolete machines begin to reveal new forms of existence beyond their original purpose.
